The article reports that Mr. Lépine’s work was recognized for the quality of his design and construction, as well as the quality of his finish. The following is an approximation of the article appearing in this French-language publication: “Computer Scientist by profession, Mr. Lépine describes himself as a rational woodworker. He prefers to use machine tools rather than manual tools. This is also how he explains the pure lines of his furniture. But experience helps. Mr. Lépine is prepared to take on new challenges – notably the creation of a chest with a round cover. His principal source of inspiration are books and magazines – which he devours – and catalogues, where he found, among others, the wardrobe and bedroom furniture that he built. Thanks to his reading and practical sense, Mr. Lepine does not need more than a short time to, from a simple photo, sketch out a design and visualize the techniques needed for construction. Although of a classic style, the model of this Shaker style armoire is not frequently seen. Moreover, the quality of construction and finish of this piece, shown by the use of dovetail joints on the numerous drawers among other things, has brought Mr. Lepine the recognition of the jury. |
